I am very excited to add a travel jib to the rest of my video equipment! I went back and forth in deciding exactly which one to buy: The Aviator, The Trapezist, or the Kessler Travel Jib. The Kessler–as to be expected–seemed clearly above the others in build quality. The quality was also reflected in its price, but ultimately what drove me to the Trapezist was the fact that it is used in conjunction with a fluid head. The other two may be better designs for people hiking through the woods, who don’t wish to carry around the head, but it made sense for me to have everything work together. This also allows for another dimension to be used, the ability to tilt the camera. That much may take a little practice (although it’s clearly a good idea to balance the jib before trying to use it).
